Is there an alarm clock function on this thing (PC, XP) anywhere? Is there any alarm clock program somewhere that I can download?

Surely I am not the first person to wonder this?

You're not the first one, that's for sure. I don't know about a separate program, but the capability is in the BIOS on my machine. I have it come on every morning at 5AM and run anti-virus, anti spyware, and download email. I could blast rock n roll, too, if I wanted to I guess.

Ok, I figured out how to do this by putting a song in the scheduled tasks, but I cannot remember my system password :(. How can I reset it?

And, is there another way to use the PC as an alarm clock?

thanks in advance!

edit: i just remembered the password, but I would still be curious as to how to reset it.

Lol, dirtdawg, we simuposted. Yes, that is how I went about it, just tried it twice and it works. But, I just realized the computer screen will keep me awake all night. Can you "tell" the computer to turn itself back on at a certain time?

A little while ago, Yahoo! was advertising "widgets," free little desktop tools that you could design to do 'bout anything. Alarm clock was one example. I wasn't interested, and I haven't seen anything about them lately, so maybe they didn't catch on.

BIOS may have a 'turn on' time. Or use Windows' Power Options to sleep/standby the monitor or the whole system. Check the Scheduled Task and make sure it's set to come on even if sleeping.

Sleeping the monitor is easiest.

BIOS = Basic Input Output System

It's the part of the computer that determines the setup and configuration of hardware before windows gets to it. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's probably not a place you want to poke around.
