Using Adobe Premeire Elements 8 - how?
I got Adobe Premeire Elements 8 to make a video and there isn't much of a manual, or online help. What I plan to do doesn't seem that complicated but it's a little more than what basic tutorials show.
I plan to take a movie trailer and edit in some clips from a TV show. Mostly I'll be replacing video and leaving the audio, but in some parts I'll need to replace audio but not the video, and some I want to replace a scene with a new one with both video and audio, but keep the original audio wit it. While experimenting I could replace clips whole and delete video and leave audio and a blank screen but I couldn't then replace the video. I don't know how to do everything I need to do. Where can I learn that?
Also, in some parts there's dialog that I want to replace, but there is music playing in the background which would noticeably go silent if I replaced the whole audio. There are programs that remove vocals from songs that would probably work for this purpose, so that shouldn't be much of a problem (although I haven't tried yet), but if there is a good one to use or an easy way to do that I'd like to know.
First of all, what operating system do you have? Why did you choose the tool before thinking what you need to do?
In Adobe Premiere, you can import the replaced audio in an extra track. I haven't used Elements but I think it supports more than 1 audio track.
If you're on OSX, iMovie is already included in your Mac.
If you're on PC, Pinnacle has a free video editor
A fast and free program (PC) is Virtualdub, small and great for cutting parts of a vid. http://www.virtualdub.org/
Another free editor is MPEG Streamclip (multiplatform): http://www.squared5.com/
Audacity (free too, multiplatform) can remove vocals: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (the remove vocals options is in the Effects dropdown)
