I am a full believer in M theory and believe that there are many universes like ours or completely diffrent but we can't see them. I would like to know if anyone believes in this stuff like me. One of the reasons why I believe this is because one: We did not know there was another continent across the sea, another is that we did not know that there where other planets or galaxys, so why can't there be other universes?

String theory and Brane theory are very pretty. But they are yet to be supported by experiment.

It is not appropriate to express "belief" or disbelief in a scientific notion until you have data and evidence.

I believe in the multiverse theory. It makes me really happy to think that in another universe, my alter ego, my imaginary world, my imaginary friends and the adventures we have together actually exist and actually happen.

It's something I often wonder about.

I'd rather not think about things which I am incapable of coming to a real conclusion on. I prefer to waste my brain cells thinking about things that I can use...hopefully.

There is some mathematics that points to this being possible. If it is true I think it would lead to a reclassification of 'universe' rather then seeing things as parallels. I could see the various different 'universes' being considered analogous to the current setup we have with cosmology, where there are large organized structures such as galaxies. So on some huge level there is a large organized structure we think of as the universe, which is in turn part of a larger organized structure. In this mega-structure you find that the individual parts are different 'universes' that have unique physical properties or laws, such as a universe where the fundamental forces are of different strengths then what we know, or a universe where there is more anti-matter then matter... Of course just speculation but I find the concept fascinating

I do. Furthermore, I believe in the particular aspect of it that states that every possible decision, those that can be thought of on a conscious level happen creating an alternate reality. If you decide to go left, you have thought about going right creating the reality where you did go right.

With that, I have chosen to try to control what I think in an attempt to make other universes better. If I don't think hateful and violent and disturbing things, these things won't happen in an alternate universe.

Unless you doing that is in fact the subconscious extra-universal result of an evil version of you having occasional 'good' thoughts :o

Are you conflating the multiverse theory (lots of branes) with the many-worlds theory of quantum mechanics?

I entertain the possibility.

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel. It's some crazy stuff and all but I'd like to be 100% of it all. I'd seriously like to read a book on these theories as it's interesting stuff.

It does sound that way.

Quick, dirty, and mildly inaccurate synopsis: Brane theory involves multiple universes, each of which has differing physical laws. The many-worlds theory of quantum mechanics (also known as the Copenhagen interpretation) says that since there is no mathematical preference for any one quantum event over any other, all possible events do occur, each in their own universe. Most of the universes should be indistinguishable from one another, because it's not going to make much difference to you whether, say, a given electron is deflected to the left, or slightly less to the left, during an interaction; but if enough of them pile up, it could actually make a difference on a macro scale.

"Belief" is inappropriate for scientific theories. They can be proved, indicated, or (as in both brane theory and the Copenhagen interpretation) hypothesized and supported by mathematics; belief is not required, any more than one is required to believe in gravity or the Lorenz contraction.

Yeah I would think that some lucky me in some other universe I am more social and am super popular and I feel like I exsist at school instead of being unpopular and ignored.

But the only thing that I find that I am agianst my theory is that I wonder why can't my alternate universe from some other universe come to my universe at this moment and talk to me. I think that Is the only confusing part about that theory.

It stands to reason that if one universe exists, others also exist. The only remaining question is does the universe really exist, or are we a simulation? Perhaps we are a hallucination of our group conciseness?
