KDE Downgrade

I have KDE 4 installed on my KDE 10.4 Desktop.
How do I downgrade to 3.5?
Or any other version?

It probably is not possible to "downgrade" since the KDE3 to KDE4 transition was a really major re-write of a lot of stuff. However, you could install (as a separate desktop) KDE3.5 from the Trinity project. KDE Trinity works reasonably well, although you should be aware that a lot of the software in it is old to the point of being useless. Konqueror in particular is really just terrible. You may end up running a number of KDE4 and/or GNOME/GTK+ apps in order to get all the functionality you want, and that will result in extra resource usage.

Their website is currently down, though. Google them in a couple days.

The reason why Im downgrading is because of the looks.
Its mimicing Windows 7 too much for me.
I just want it nicely watered down.
Basic as possibile.

Is the look im after.
It would be so much more faster on my limited 1GB ram and 1.6 GHZ CPU .

You can probably modify the KDE4 look to mimic KDE3 to some extent.

Holy crap. How does KDE4 even start on that thing? I've put it on more powerful machines than that and not gotten a functional system out of it. It might be possible to get the look you want from Xfce. Or wait a couple days for Trinity's site to come back up. It's KDE3.5, and it looks more or less like your screenshot.

Actualy KDE is really snappy.
It starts up in about 15 seconds.
Once im on the desktop it takes Google Chrome 1-2 seconds to launch.
Every thing works perfect.
Wine works perfect.
I did forget to mention the CPU is a Intel Atom x2.
BUT It works more or less the same on my netbook with exacly the same specs (It is single core).

I really am curious how you managed to do that. What distro are you using? Did you modify KDE in some way?

Completely unmodified.
Kubuntu is the key.
Its a brilliant KDE base.
It works so seamlessly.

Yeah.
Linux works very differently on some machines.
I love my Linux operated machines.
I could use it all day.
In fact, I wonder if I should try Damn Small Linux and install KDE 3...
Now that might be a good idea.
