Smartphone as a primary computer

Is it even possible to accomplish this? Whether it's the iPod iPad android device

It would be possibile.
But some one would need to do ALLOT of work in ASM to accomplish this.
Reason why no one has done this is because an iPod Touch/iPhone only has 256Mb of ram and a 1Ghz CPU.
Its not really going to do very much.
You probably have more chance with the Android ones ( Which I have heard you can run KDE on).

Pretty much depends on your computing needs... If you just do e-mail and some web browsing, sure.
