I have a nice brass zippo lighter and yesterday I was looking at what color iPod Nano I'd like and I got to thinking that I should contact Apple to see if they could make the iPods with natural metal finishes like brass, bronze, brushed stainless, nickel, copper and others.

What do you think?

In all fairness if iPods have to exist, iPods with natural metal finishes like brass, bronze, brushed stainless, copper, etc. would be pretty cool.

I'd be surprised if they wound up doing the full metal jacket thing. They caught a lot of negative press over the metal covers on their laptops because any small ding became a permanent dent. Dent it in the wrong place, and it cracks an underlying plastic part. Metal is pretty unforgiving when it comes to drops and impacts. If I'd abused a metal phone half as much as I've abused my iPhone, I would have killed it long before now.

Still, with all the aftermarket stuff available for phones and iPods these days, you figure someone would've come out with a metal case for the iPhone. Of course you'd have to send it to an Apple service center to get it installed... >sigh<

(But put me in for a nice weathered bronze!)

Well, they have that. Just install RockBox and put all your music in FLAC.
