I made a post a week or so ago about how I thought the processor fan was having problems. Anyways dell never called me back about the new one I tried ordering & I'm glad because I realize now that the problem is with the fan on my video-card. It was very sporadic at 1st but I am 100% sure it's the video-card fan now because when I spray the fan with canned air & get it to spin; it makes that exact noise. I'm not sure the exact model of the video-card but I know it's an ATI Radeon duel card & the device manager list ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series. It looks like it would be complicated to take the card apart to try & fix the fan so I'm wondering if I should go replace the card & if so does anyone have any recommendations about what video-card to get: I decked out on my system & got the best video-card I could so I would defiantly want something just as powerful but I'm thinking maybe it would be good to upgrade to something better

If you know the make and model of the video card, it's worth a shot to see if you can just replace the fan.

Is it under warranty?

My computer's no longer under warranty. i tried searching the problem on google & people on other forums recommend taking the fan off the card but that seems complicated & I'd be worried about it overheating. I'm going to just go ahead & replace it & try to do a better job keeping the dust out of my comp. I've been researching different cards & I may decide in about a week.

It's not difficult to replace the fan, but it may be difficult to find a replacement fan that fits. There are however plenty of aftermarket GPU coolers. With these you replace both the heatsink and fan. It's a bit more involved than just replacing the fan but nothing too complicated. Arctic Cooling and Thermalright are just two well regarded brands. Have a look at their website and download some manual to see if you are comfortable installing it yourself.
