Back when I was a kid, my parents bought me a Toshiba E350.
I was obsessed by it for years, it was an awesome little device.
Its a shame that sort of a thing has died out now. Now, you get huge tablets.
Its a shame to see that no one is making them any more (Mind you I suppose its not something that any one would use nowadays).
The iPod Touch seems to be the only one about. Some one should make a Pocket PC OS in a form of Android.

Actually, I've had two great little pocket PCs, two types of Zaurus. Used Linux as an operating system. They're no longer made but you can still find them on eBay. Extremely handy little things!

It is still around. Pocket PC was renamed Windows Mobile, which was then renamed (or replaced depending on your point of view) Windows Phone 7.

Windows Phone 7(.5) is basically an improved/modern Pocket PC with a phone and Zune hardware included. That is a gross simplification of course, but you get the idea.

Microsoft had decided to stop selling standalone PDAs (Pocket PC/Windows Mobile) and the standalone Zune players, and instead made smartphones with those capabilities.

The Linux devices are just called "Zaurus." I think they are still sold in Japan, but not in the US. You should be able to Google them. What I really liked about them was that they take ... can't remember the word ... handwriting input, as well as keyboard input. They have a plastic screen, though, which is easily scratched. I used to wax mine from time to time; now I just use an iPhone or Touch.

I never had a Pocket PC, but I miss my Palm Pilot! I have an iPod touch, but it isn't quite the same. The handwriting input was awesome on my old Palm, and I had the ir keyboard for taking notes in class. I wonder if it's still kicking around here somewhere... hmmmm... :o

I guess they've been replaced with mobiles now. I liked PDAs too.

your not alone, to this day my favourite phone was a HTC Touch Dual 850 running WM6, and my second favourite, and the best looking phone I've had BTW, was its sequel, the HTC Touch Diamond running 6.5.

Yeah, I miss the good old days with Pocket PCs, they are still good. Some one should atleast try making one.
You could say, who wants a Pocket PC? ... Ok then, who wants a tablet?
Some one should make an Android Pocket PC (I know there already a few)but they should properly have a bash at it.

Me too. Had a Tungsten E2. Absolutely brilliant. Had all sorts of stuff on it like Lyme (mini Matlab), an onboard pascal compiler, and a universal remote (fun when at a friends house and don't like what they're watching on tv). There was a project to get linux running on them but I never tried it as Palm's were pretty easily bricked.

I had a pocket PC but I sold it when I got my first proper smartphone and haven't looked back since. There's no point having everything separate when one device does it all, and for geeky stuff any Android phone will do you nicely.

I still have a Garmin iQue 3200 Palm Pilot/GPS Combination and a Palm IIIc. An Android PDA would be like an iPod Touch with the possible availability of models without a camera or a small Android Tablet.

There are Android PDAs. Samsung sell media players that run Android, basically it's their answer to the iPod touch. They're like the Galaxy phones but without the phone.
