My 70+ year old mother went to a class held over 4 weeks at her local library.

Check out the library service near you, they may have starter courses.

No good if they don't use Macs (the Internet service that is offered is all based on Windows, so no use).

thanks, but i cant really cope w being around other ppl, i cant follow demos in classes at all- this is a common aspect of AS- it was even in my diagnostic tests- how one learns and teachers others, followng instructions etc. anyway....

also, they never cover macs at things like that anyway- im asking for help here so i dont have to explain to someone just how shamefully useless my AS makes me.
i just want to pay someone; its part of my AS taht i cant do this stuff- i cant learn it, no matter how simply its explained. im sure i can do a panoply of stuff IT experts cant do, but whatever- i just want to pay someone.
otherwise ill get someone out the yellow pages.

anyone interested in earning an easy tenner and helping me?

I'm unable to help you, unfortunately, because I'm northern scum. Have you thought about asking in the London meet-up thread? I know it's OT, but...

@cosmic- i thought 'northern' only referred to england. technically, you're foreign ;D

yes, i believe 'meeting people without meeting people' is the holy grail of AS life.

are there NO mac users in london who can help?

Depends on the definition. Can often encompass the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

If you could manage downloading something like TeamViewer anyone anywhere could help you, without having to actually "meet" them.
