Just checking, I've uploaded my avatar, it was the right size (like 10kb) , and 140 x 140 pixels, but doesn't seem to be coming up. Its a gif.

The image needs to be a jpg or png, gifs do not work for avatars on the forum. And do use a direct link to the 140x140 pixels and the 10k file. Something like this htt://www.sample.com/pics/av-140x140.jpg. Or use the upload avator to your profile that will work too.

Try using http://imageshack.us/
You upload images to this site and then you use the code in the update avitar box on WP.
