I like it. It's new and different, it's sort of the same as other touch-based OSs and sort of not. And, once you get to the desktop, Win8 is almost exactly like Win7 etc, only the 'start menu' has really changed.
Think about this, Windows has used the same basic UI since Windows 95, and even then Win95 wasn't that different from every other Windows or from the Macintosh, etc.. Not that Win8 is all that big a departure, but still, Windows 7's UI is almost exactly the same as Windows 95's.
I'm looking forward to the new OS. I'll upgrade to it at some point, unless benchmarks show it to be hugely slow or some other horrible thing arises.
That all said, my main computer has been a Macintosh for about 6 months now, so I won't even see it that much.. but I do like how MS is going for more style instead of just a straight-ahead super-efficient approach.
