Ok, so I was on my iPhone and i tapped on a friends name when suddenly it said that I had logged in from an unusual location (said Japan) and then asked if it was me. Of course I said no and then it logged me off and deactivated my account. I tried logging back in and then it told me to log in on my computer, so I did. It had me change my password, which I did. I guess I'm safe now, but I'm freaked as crap right now. Lately my moods have been unstable anyway, too, but it has me freaked out that someone got in briefly or rather tried to log in as me. What I don't get is I know I haven't been fished. I'm not stupid enough to fall for any of that. My password is not obvious at all. It'd take a lot of guess work and I mean it'd have to be done by a machine repetitively, but we know that doesn't work, because if you try the wrong password so many times, a safety feature is put in place. Also, I am virus free.

I wouldn't worry! I've had messages saying people have attempted to log in from Cornwall, Russia and New Zealand, before. I changed my password — but none of them succeeded, anyway, so I don't think of it as a big deal.

I haven't been on Facebook in at least a year, though, so in theory my account could have been taken over by some fellow from the Czech Republic or somesuchwhere, I suppose.

Do you ever log on using proxies? Or have given the password or username to anyone?

Password? You're asking someone that wouldn't even give his password to his own mother no matter how trustworthy she is. XD So no. And proxies? Nope.

Haha, well that's good, I am the same way. I have had random login attempts before but since I made my profile unsearchable/not with my real name, left all groups, and did not "Like" any pages that are public (thus putting my profile out there) as well as "unliking" all pages I had "Liked", it has not happened. *shrug*

Do you have any social connections, online or offline, with anyone who might be in Japan?

Maybe it is possible someone used some sort of keylogger Trojan to get your passwords? I was reading about this and apparently it's possible for some to not show up on a virus scan. I am no computer expert though.

Also apparently a while back there was a loophole allowing hackers to hack people's Facebook pages, I believe that loophole was closed but hackers might have found another one.

In any case I'm sorry this happened, you should not have to experience this anxiety.

Attempts? So do they show up the same way as logins from a different location? I never did make certain it was an actual login or attempt at logging in.

Also this happened quite awhile back to my gmail and I don't even remember my reaction. I'm sure my initial reaction was a freak out, but I don't think I changed my password. Maybe I did later. Nothing's happened since then and that was years ago.

Oh. BTW, what exactly would someone from on the other side of the planet want with my fb, anyway?

I had my account hacked once, it was no fun! Took me nearly a week to delete all the insulting messages that were posted on some of my friend's walls lol (and explain what had happened). It sounds like you took care of it before it became a problem though, I don't think you've got anything at all to worry about.

How'd you get it back?

hm, I think it is the apps you allow ... I noticed the more apps I downloaded while giving access rights, the more incidents where I was logged in somewhere weird, or another country !
Hope that helps? :)

Well they didn't change my password so I just changed it myself, no problems ever since.
