Hey!
Im looking to build a portable powerhouse at some point but it has to be AMD. Im looking for a AMD mobo thats ITX and will have a PCIE 3.0 slot (This is a must) to take a decent GPU.
Anyone know of any ITX AMD PCI-E 3.0 boards?
Thanks!
:D

A Google search seems to return information on several - is there something wrong with them?

Well, I just used this cunningly complicated search string: ITX AMD PCI-E 3.0 motherboard
Even if there is nothing immediately suitable there should certainly be enough pointers to other research avenues.

No matter; just curious - but likewise a Google search for AM3+ returns piles of stuff, including links to several motherboard manufacturers.

Click the link - you'll see the Intel processor crushed the AMD 8-core 95% of the time - especially in games. And with way less electricity! (especially the new 3rd-generation i5's at only 77W vs. AMD's 125+)

Unless he already has the processor, go Intel this time.

Intel at the moment seem to be the best route to go, most people I know are using intel processors, also itx is good if you want to put your system somewhere in a small corner.

He doesnt have the cash for an Intel CPU. He wants a different platform anyway and his friend has one and he likes it (and so do I and I dont usualy like AMD) .

They cost the same so I don't see the issue...

Actually, a $40 Celeron G530 outperforms most of the AMD processors and is a fantastic starter processor. Seriously - check the reviews! The Intel platform is best for games - period.

The 1155 socket still has lots of life in it, AM3+ is pretty much at its end. If cash is tight, the G530 is an *amazing* processor for the money and you'll have a good upgrade path as well.
