When the PS2 was new, I thought "Na, I don't want to change" and didn't really take notice of it and played on my PS1. A bit later, I learned to accept the change and get one, and I've had the same original PS2 for 2 and a half years.

Sure, I love my PS2 + PS1 equally now, but now the new PS3 is coming out.

Now, the new PS3 coming out, I'm thinking, "Yeah, but I'm so used to the PS2 + PS1 that I don't want to change again!" Can't they stop there, because I don't want to get the newest and latest, I'm happy with what I've got!! :x

Sure, I got the new PS2 (When it was new) but I just can't be bothered to keep getting the new consoles when they come out.

It's alright playing 2 consoles equally, but 3! Pah!

I just wanted to let that all out.

I feel better now. :)

Heheh, I can understand your nostalgia. I don't like to change either
But the reason why new consoles are coming out all the time is that technology is advancing. This automatically forces the major companies(Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) to compete with having the best and most updated console out. As a result, they quit making games for their previous console and spend all time and effort creating games for their new "wonder child".

I had the PS1 back in the days. I never bothered getting a PS2 because I was always short of cash. Though I've decided to get the PS3 while its fresh and new so that its lifespan is longer.

I know Technology's evolving Revenant, but why can't it just...stop? Why can't technology stop evolving? I'm happy with the modern era I'm in, in fact, I would of been happier in the 1980s. Because there was no such thing as HD-TV and Blu-Ray Discs and DVDs and VHS...well they were just starting to come around. :)

My opinion on the next gen consoles, PS3 = pointless, Wii = gimmick, 360 = winner!

The Wii-mote is pretty crap actually, feels like a toy. The PS3 is very sleek, but the games are horrible (not to mention the $1000 AU pricetag  ). Bluray will flop just like UMD. The 360 on the other hand has everything, tonnes of awesome games, Xbox Live is just amazing and the graphics are mind blowing... And it's cheap!

I'm not trying to change your mind but try the 360, dude... I used to love my PS1 and PS2 just like you do but then I played a little game called Halo and I was introduced to a whole different world of gaming, lol... so just give it a go, ok! :D

I'm getting a Wii because I'm a huge Zelda fan. I'll most likely also get an Xbox 360 - but probably not until Halo 3 comes out because Halo is just too awesome to miss. But I don't see myself ever getting a PlayStation 3 unless the price drops substantially AND some good games come out (let's face it, the PS3 launch lineup was pretty pathetic).

Um Alternative, why would you even keep your PS1 or 'play them equally'? The PS2 is backwards compatible...

Well, Alternative everything changes, we aspies may not like it, but it does. I've grown to accept it. It's part of life.

And when you think of it, it's not really that big of a change, is it? The controller is pretty much the same, looks the same, feels the same. The machine has a different look, but you don't look at that, you look at your tv. So just don't change your tv and you should be allright.

I'm gonna get the PS3 for sure when it comes to europe, some time....next year.....hopefully. There are some interesting games coming up like Assassin's Creed and GTAIV.

My PS2 is so old + tired, it can only play PS2 games.

It can't play PS1 games, DVDs, Audio CDs or anything else apart from PS2 Games.

I remember when I first found out about CD's.I thought they were a gimmick and refused to get a CD player because all my music was punk tapes and I knew Punk bands would never be released on such an expensive format.WRONG.....I didnt get a computer until about a year ago because I didnt want to give up my books and replace them with a "fancy typing TV"...uhm,WRONG again. Now,I spend hours doing "research" on-line and cant imagine living with-out it...it's my only socializing.I tend to fight all new technology and assume it's just more useless gimic to get people to be obedient consumers. After the price comes down enough....I end up giving in,just to try it.My boyfriends kid is the oposite...he has to have every new gadget and game as soon as it is released, cant wait the few months until the price comes down.Alot of this is peer-pressure....if his friends have it ,then he feels like a "freak" and left out if he doesnt have one....pretty sad ,really.

Well, I for one cannot see anything bad about technological evolution as long as it yields good results. Gene-manipulation and such other discriminations should not be focused on. Cloning humans, even animals is a horrible thought and I hope society doesn't start doing it for real.
Multimedia technology however, is awesome! Imagine the day you can put on some VR-goggles and walk around in your own living room, shooting monsters! I've always dreamed of such a game where my physical movement controls the game. Imagine a boxing game for example!

iddqd, you might think that 360 is superior to PS3. Well, I have to say I disagree. The PS3 has WAY higher specifications. But the fact that Microsoft is the only company to produce HALO gives 360 a good fighting chance

I don't like Nintendo. They make the same games for every console, with all their sh***y tired characters.
Also, they can't get over the carton factor. I think they aim for kids

I tried the Wii. (My sister has the concussions to prove it) and it's a massive health hazard to anyone in the room. It does massive amounts of damage. I tried the PS3 and it works like a dream, though the only good launch title is Resistance it's well worth the $600 bucks for premium one.
