If you want a stable (or stableish) super heavy element then you are better off using a neutron rich isotope which is so neutron rich that it is a beta emitter, that way you are more likely to end up in an island of stability. I know that one island of stability is at Pu-244 which has a far longer half life than Pu-239.
It might also help to go for a neutron rich target, I would be tempted to use Pu-244 or neutron rich curium (Cm-247 or Cm-248) are the target.
I am not sure if it ever will be possible to get to a super heavy with a Z much higher than the current highest Z elements.
