Recently, our computer has been taken over by a browser highjacker calling itself Xvidly, and none of our malware or anti-virus protection will get rid of it. As we're dirt poor, we can't for monetary reasons purchase protection which we'd have to pay monthly for, and our regular computer repair guy is out of town for some time. Does anyone know of a free program we can download that can kill this thing? I'd genuinely appreciate the help.

There is a detailed, step-by-step, guide here.

The recommended applications (Malwarebytes and CCLeaner) are both free.

Let us know if it works.
