Volcanoes are my latest obsession but there is only so much I can gab on about the topic before people grow sick of it. So if anybody is as excited about Earth's firey peaks as I am, whether you're an aspiring or accomplished volcanologist, seismologist, geologist, avid volcano climber or traveler, or simply as enthralled by these wonders of nature as I am, I'd love to hear from you and encourage you to send me a message!

I'm not who you're looking for and I hope you find them, but if you weren't limited to Earth then Venus should be your fav planet - it's covered in volcanoes of every kind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanology_of_Venus
I prefer cryo-volcanoes :)

Yep, geology nerd and rock climber here.

I also got to tour an active volcano in Nicaragua once... really cool experience.

I was lucky enough to do the same in Italy on the island of Stromboli, home to one of the world's most active volcanoes. We climbed all the way to the top and watched the eruptions, it was like watching nature's fireworks! It was an awesome experience and the one that spurred all this interest in volcanic activity.

I'd love to see Central America's volcanoes some day; which one did you visit?

Weather has always been my favorite part of earth science. I particularly am fascinated by lightning.

One of my obsessions is waves,, accoustical, water and earthquake wave motion,,, fascinting.

Does anyone else get the email quake notications from the USGS? I go over these daily,, look up the ones i dont know where they are and keep mental track,,,

I look at the USGS update on earthquakes.

Not really a volcano nerd, but I did get obsessed with making a working model of Mt. St. Helens for a class...

It was actually pretty cool. I managed to simulate the land slide, exploding cyrptodome, pyroclastic flow and ash eruption...

It made a HUGE mess in class and got me an A. :D

I think I was more obsessed with the model making aspect then the volcano aspect.

Well I'm a woman too and I follow John Seach's Volcano News (link), and will be following USGS now that it's been mentioned, so take that as you will!

That's so awesome! I used to love making those bicarbonate soda volcanoes when I was a kid. How did you manage to simulate all of those details?
