I downloaded it today after having used version 6 since I had my computer. Not that much different and I still have an icon for my mail and haven't lost any history or anything. I wish the look was closer to what 6 was (you know how we aspies usually feel about change!) Pages look somewhat better, too.

Well, IE8 has fewer gaping security flaws than IE6, so congrats on the upgrade.

Well, it's all I'll use since I am very tech-impaired. Firefox was way too complicated for me.

try google chrome, it's the simplest one out there. seriously, you'll regret you stuck to IEs for so long once you get used to the interface.

Maybe going from IE7 to FireFox could confuse you if you've never used anything before IE3. Firefox has better functionality compared to IE7+ I suppose the idea of IE7 minimalistic is to maximise web pages. BUT - people install browser toolbars. Like in Firefox, a Google toolbar with search function. Great, now I have two places for searching in Google...

Ever since Vista, I get the feeling everything is/was slowly gearing to the interface of Vista. Using such things would look not so out of place in Vista.

Actually I had deleted IE7 because I couldn't figure it out either. I was using 6 up until this point. I really am bad at computer stuff - I can't figure out how do do lots of stuff including that winzip program.

Well, you've certainly come to the right place. If we can't help you, who can?

Don't know if you're interested in training or not, but if you go to the Goodwil Foundation, they have free computer training, including a course on Firefox, from soup to nuts. They also have other programs, like Office, Open Office, Publisher, Facebook (Facebook? believe it or not..;) etc. It's all free, so you might want to check it out.

http://www.gcflearnfree.org/

Joe Bob says check it out...;)

Sadly Chrome has replaced Firefox as my browser of choice.

It's sad because Firefox was so good for so long - still is - and really showed me how bad IE is.

I've got four browsers (for testing purposes) on my PC, Chrome, Firefox, IE8 and Safari
IE is the dog.

I've had to move some people at work off IE because I discovered that it would periodically freeze their systems for 1 minute intervals.

IE8 is better than IE6 in many ways, but that's similar to saying that a 1990s Datsun is better than a 1980s one.
- Chrome is a Ferrari because it's sleek and fast
- Firefox is a Limousine because it has amazing add-ons
- Safari is just a sedan, but it's a good quality one with a nice modern look.

In my case Chrome, Firefox and Safari are all Manuals while IE is automatic and I can't drive a stick.

it's very easy to learn though! seriously, it's not rocket science. give it a go Shizzle! you'll kick yourself for sticking to IE for so long. you think you're making your life easier by sticking to what you know but it's just an illusion- seriously, you won't regret it!

and we're here if you need some tutorials! :P

I had tried Firefox and deleted it - it was way too complicated. I couldn't even get my e mail with it.

Worked fine the last time I tried it. Felt more stable than Internet Explorer 7, but it still feels a bit early to give a final verdict on it. Felt a bit slow. So far I have no major complaints about it.

I mostly use Opera or Firefox.

Some companies forces me as a user to use Internet Explorer because of their active-x plugins which refuses to work with other browsers (online anti-virus scanners).

MattShizzle, when you press that magic button that will open your emails, does a different window open? If so, it's likely a separate program (it's very likely Outlook Express), you are better off finding out what it is and how to open it independently.

If a separate tab/IE window open instead, then it's just a bookmark. Copy the url and you should be able to use it on any browser.

Seriously, stickly to IE because of a button to open email is kind of unthinkable to me.
