Ok so, yesterday, I powered up my laptop (Win 7 32-bit) and something interesting happened...

When I clicked on Google Chrome (from the taskbar shortcut), it said
"Can't open this item
It might have been moved, renamed or deleted. Do you want to delete this item?"

I thought that this was odd so I tried another taskbar shortcut... Well, all of my shortcuts say the same thing.
Then I tried to run some programs from clicking on the Start menu. Well, when I click on a program ("Accessories-> Paint" for example), the program never opens. The start menu minimizes and goes back to it's usual position but the cursor never changes to the hourglass or anything. Also, when I click on my recent programs, "absolutely" nothing happens.

One other key feature about this problem is that my library folders are no longer on the right in the start menu. They're completely gone. I managed to open up Google Chrome because the Computer shortcut still works. From there, I had to manually find the exe and click on it from there.

I wanted to take a screenshot but I don't know how to find the exe for Paint so that I can save the image... Anyone have any advice?

I thought that I had created multiple restore points but my computer is saying that there are no previously saved settings so I can't perform a system restore.

There was a really bad worm going around called Vobfus, I would see if you can virus check.

as for your missing items, I would make sure you can see hidden files in your windows explorer. Then go look for the folders.
