I used to own a couple of portable mp3-cd players, they all went bust and I really miss those things.

I was never really thrilled by the whole iPod type of mp3 players because the USB-transfers of tracks really annoyed me in so many ways and eventually you are gonna get sick of the tracks you placed there one day, so I really wonder if these mp3-cd or dvd player things still get made and sold as new because I'm not really up for suffering from the modern day ebay torture sessions.

Has anyone else liked these things so much compared to the current stuff?

I really wish I could spin back time for this.

I own one of those. Worked great. Relatively easy to navigate, would go folder to folder. Never ever ever skipped. I got mine for free in the trash.

Nowadays, an mp3 player is better imo, just find one you can just plug into your computer like a flash drive, instead of needing an annoying itunes like software. Android phones are decent despite horrendous battery life. My sister got a useable Chinese ipod knockoff for $10 shipped off alibaba. Android phone, despite privacy concerns and klunkyness is best, though. You can hear a song in a store, use your favorite mp3 downloading site, and grab it. Pretty great.

Yeah the whole "plug into computer" thing is what pisses me off the most about those mp3 players. You're pretty f****d when you just bought a new cd and you want to play it on your mp3-player instantly if there isn't any computer around you at that moment and ripping cd's to mp3 takes time, unless you like your mp3s to be glitchy and squelchy as f**k.

I usually buy vinyl records more than CDs, sort of a moot point for me. The main thing I used that player for was as a car CD player hooked to a cassette adaptor.

I'd recommend that model if you want a good player, though.
