Gmail: Are the labs safe to add?

There are some labs that I want to add to Gmail.

Almost all of them are by third parties. It makes me wonder if some of them could have viruses.

I am not looking for conjecture. I can guess that since they are on Gmail's website, they are probably safe.

Does anyone know?
