I've discovered that using google can sometimes be playing russian roulette.

Twice now my computer has become infected by the bogus police malware bug. The most recent incident resulted in it preventing me from accessing system restore and having to pay £50 to have the malicious program removed at the computer repair shop. If i could have five minutes alone in a room with the scumbag that write these programs i would gladly soak them in petrol and light a match.

I had a computer, without warning, shutdown and restart while I was typing a paper. I had not saved

Either your computer overheated, or something bad downloaded.

Yeah, my computer does that when it overheats. I really should've got a better case and built it better. I know next time.

attributing psychological attitudes and modalities to mindless machines is silly.

Can a rock be psychotic? Can a can opener be neurotic?

I think most people have lost things when their computer malfunctioned in some way.

The smart people only let it happen once, however :)

I had a windows 98 computer during college in 2004/2005 that badly needed a reformat. It crashed about every 15 minutes, and usually when I was writing an essay and hadn't saved for a few minutes. Very inconvenient, I tried to use computer labs when possible.

My current PC has a glitch with it's video card. It runs video games and movies just fine, but ads on websites and even pictures seem to cause the driver to malfunction. I'd replace it, but it is expensive and out of warranty, and still plays games just fine. I update the driver regularly, but there must be some incompatibility somewhere, either with conflicting software or an error with the hardware.

The passive-aggressive nature of computers makes them ideal customer service agents. I just love it how they condescendingly "thank you for your business" when you're trying to file a customer complaint due to a product malfunction or crappy service. Makes me want to throw my phone against the wall.

The police malware has to be one of the most frustrating encounters I have ever had on my PC. I managed to beat it, though, by exploiting a weakness in its ability to lock the screen in Safe mode.

Recently, though, my greatest frustration is the WP forum software.

- My Ubuntu GUI all of a sudden decided it didn't like my GPU after all
- The internet was down the two last days before an assignment at my university had to be turned in
- Installing GIT turned out to be damn troublesome and it took a while to f-ck aound with the configs
