For now I like Crunch Bang Linux.

It's been a good lean distro for my Netbook.

I am most used to Windows as well, and I like Windows 7 pretty well. I'll get used to 8, and they're not going a bad direction with it, but it needs a few significant adjustments.

Makes me wonder what a Windows AS would be like:

* Supports "no-touch" screens.
* Will only run interlaced LED monitors with refresh frequencies of 120 Hz or greater.
* Will only play one sound file at a time at no greater than 30% volume (Trivia: Everyone receiving a new laptop at my work has their sound actually preset to 30% by me in real life).
* Google Hangouts and social media are blocked at the hardware level.
* "InPrivate Browsing" in IE cannot be disabled.
* Wikipedia is the default search engine.
* All keystrokes are automatically submitted to Google Scholar as well.

Yeah, that sounds about right actually! At least with the way the browser works on it.

I do need to brush up on my Linux more, I've worked with it off and on again.

Windows 7 and Mac OS 10 are the top two.
Then Fedora, then Linux Mint.

I like Windows 7. I don't currently have a favourite Linux distro.

Windows XP. It was a better gaming platform than the windows versions that before and after. Other non-windows OS don't run as many games as windows. XP was also less faffy and easier to use, doesn't interfere as much, than later windows versions. And is more stable than its forerunners.

That was a very good operating system. It not only ran on microsoft clones, but it ran on DEC computers. DEC is no longer with us but in its time was a first run computer manufacturer.
