So I have purchased some rock album from amazon.com in the mp3 digital format. Anyway I go through all the hoops to download it onto my iPod which by the way is a vintage 2004 iPod mini 1st generation;)
I have a heck of a time trying to do this, for some reason my computer doesn't recognize the syncing device (iPod) so it is like, grayed out and cannot utilize. So I download itunes which is what my husband suggested I do. Still no results. Later on he gives it a try, turns out he finally downloaded the album to my iPod, but everything else on there in my playlist was erased. Why did this happen? BTW...This is not the first time this has happened to me. I have wiped outathe whole playlist before one other time and I was pretty hacked off.
ANy suggestions or advice???

First, what operating system are you running?

Second, what version of iTunes are you using?

Third, what firmware version is running on that iPod?

Fourth, have you backed up your computer's hard drive lately?

That's weird...I've never had that happen to my iPod touch. When was the last time you updated your device?

I'd imagine the firmware in your vintage Ipod Mini isn't compatible with some code in the modern Itunes software. Apple isn't really known for long-term hardware support, so this is highly likely as a possibility.

If you install Ubuntu on your hard drive, you can treat your iPod as a media-reading disk drive. Or, you could do yourself a favor and buy a newer iPod
