When editing your account, it says you can use html coding on the signature line. I just want mine to display in italic.

Can someone tell me the html codes for that? I thought I knew but I guess I don't.

Thanks so much :)

Why don’t you just use BBCode?

That information displayed in the account setting is outdated, I'm afraid - only plain text can be used in a signature; no html (or BBCode) at all.

Oh ok, thanks.

I have no idea what BBCode is, anyway.

No problem.

BBCode is a simple text markup language used by WP and many other web-based forums to format text. There are many effects possible, but WP uses a fairly small and basic subset of those.
It allows posts to include things like bold, underlined, and italicised text, or coloured text - and combinations like this.
(click on the "Quote" button to see the BBCodes used for these effects).

You can also apply some of them (bold, underline, italic and some related to embedding images and suchlike) by using the buttons above the post text editing area - which simply insert the relevant tags into your post

See here for a brief description of BBCode:
