Does anyone else here use Android?

And if so do you like to Root your phones?

I love to Root my phones and I have developed a compulsion with constantly changing my Roms, and doing customizations at any given time of the day, I can even be at work and doing something important and if I have a free hand I just kinda start looking to download/wipe/format/ etc as if its natural. Do any of you do this?

I have a tablet with Vegacomb 1.7 which uses Android 3.0. I want to upgrade to at least 4.0 but I don't have the nerve.

I had once splurged on an Archos 101 10in IT just before the tablet craze really took off, in hopes of being able to root and it put at least gingerbread on it, but Archos left made it really hard to root and unlock the bootloader permanently. I never got bit by the tablet bug again. However, I switched my Rom on my phone twice in the last two days.

oy, let's see. I started on Winmo Smartphone 2003, then on to overclocked Palm OS Treos, and then the second USDM Android phone, a MyTouch 3g (there's a hacked Linux Archos 605 in there somewhere), another 2 MyTouches, then the LG Optimus one, Sidekick 4G, Galaxy W, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Asus tf201 and most recently, Nokia N9. Damn... I need another N9.

Forgot to mention CyanogenMod on my S3, which I got when TMobile insurance wouldn't cover stolen unlocked phones. I have to upgrade all my Galaxy devices to 10.1 as well as my Asus Transformer.

On my GS3 that I had, I enjoyed Paranoid Android, alot. But With my current phone (a Nexus 4) and even on the GS3 I found Vanilla RootBox to be the most stable ROM, which is what I am also currently running. The new Paranoid Android has a variant on the PIE navigator called HALO which is this neat, floating notification system that also allows for multiwindow, but its annoying and buggy, so I stopped using it.

Android's great for getting work done, but having a daily phone built closer to the Linux kernel with less UI on top keeps me in reality. I like Nokia's solution, and the hardware's so nice I might even be tempted by their future Windows phones...

Here's some directions with details of root process. As well as the root app. As long as you follow all directions it should go easy.

I have a rooted Google Nexus 7 that uses a custom-coded skin and bootloader. I don't always root my tablets, but when I do, they look awesome!

Stay nerdy, my friends.
