Okay so I have a "latitude e5530"...I wanted to switch out RAM modules...never opened up LAPTOP only desktop before, with my IT cousin.
This time, opened up screws, but put cover back on cuz it was like 10 pm and I couldn't screw it back that time...

came back from school, picked it up as if nothing was wrong with the laptop...tried to turn it on...power light came on...felt like it was gonna start, but THE LIGHT TURNED OFF BUT THE OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON.>>WTF?

perhaps ESD

So i screwed everything back together, HDD spun around, i heard the fans...same thing happened.

just ruined a good 700$ (granted, it WAS prebuiltXD)...seriously tho...what to dO?

Best bet would be to call Dell. Don't be too surprised if they void your warranty, as what you did might be considered abuse.

Most all laptops have a memory compartment that's easy to access for RAM upgrades.

Possible there's a switch telling it the cover isn't secure? Possible a RAM module is out of joint (that'll block most systems from starting up)?

If you did switch RAM, switch it back. Undo any changes you did. Be certain the RAM is seated in there.

Then be sure all the covers and parts are back in place securely.

Dell Latitude series laptops have two RAM slots. One is easily accessible on the bottom of the laptop. The other is underneath the keyboard.

Don't panic yet, it might not be serious. First try doing a hard reset by holding the power button down for 60 seconds. If it doesn't start try swapping the memory cards. And last but not least my main diagnosis: check to make sure all the ribbon wires and cables are connected and secured. If one of the fans are not connected you will get the same symptoms you described.

Another thing that you might want to do, provided you have access to another computer is to look up a service manual for your computer and find out how the thing is put togeather, pull it apart, and put it back togeather properly.

Before you start f***ing around with any laptops you have, it's always best to know the layout of the exact system that you are about to pull apart. --Hopefully your system will be ok when it's whole again.
