As many of the Linux Geeks here know, Common Desktop Environment has been open sourced, and is in development again.

What you may not know, is that somebody has released a DebianLive (6.0 Squeeze) CD running that DE. Here

I've used it on one of my laptops, and I think in a VM. Pretty nice to use.
But getting it to work on a x64 desktop is a bit tricky, at least dtlogin and the like, if you want the full cde experience.

Yeah, apparently the 32 bit is being redeveloped more than the 64 bit version, or rather the code is not optimised for amd64 archetecture.

I would like to see it developed into a modern DE. Keep the look and the much of the workflow the same, but add OpenType support and other things. --Using Wireless is problematic with it.
