They make especially awful jokes.

I mentioned that one of the topics in my class would be troubleshooting boot errors. He replies, "The boot doesn't fit, that's the problem!" I tried to talk to him about Python once, but he just told me that I was trying to program with a snake.

Lighten up :D

Python is named after Monty Python after all.

Programmers are a glorious race of eccentric people. Get used to it, take Why the lucky stiff for example.

You will be assimilated.

My tone was meant to be more lovingly exasperated, but sometimes I'm afraid of assimilation. Every programmer I've talked to hates technical writing, for example. Maybe they're a time-traveling hive mind overlord coding itself into existence in our era.

If you want to do that, then do it.

Some of us are just not good at it, and user interaction, and social interaction

"If you want to do that, then do it" to my tone? I don't know what else I'd be doing. Sorry if it's a misinterpretation.

Technical writing. Do what floats you boat, it is a wide field.

Oh. That's different, then, and I don't think you're being a dick. I'm not a technical writer, but I think it sounds like a much better deal than working through Python problems even though they're both tedious jobs. Someone's gotta help them differentiate their en dashes and their em dashes!

Different origination spot code differently, that kind of thing would be a huge help to a project.

My dad wouldn't be able to SPELL Python.
You're lucky your dad is bright, even if he makes dumb jokes.

Cracking the whip whenever they break convention? Do you work as a programmer?

I am, but I think he passed most of it on to my engineer brother.

A programmer's wife sent him to the store to buy a loaf of bread and added "If they have eggs, bring home a dozen." He comes home with twelve loaves of bread.

@downbutnotout yes

@slave I can't spell to safe my life. Spelling isn't the be and end all of intelligence.

Personally I think general intelligence is less of a trend than currently thought, there is more variation, even in the middle ground.

By general intelligence, I mean the theory vs. specific.
