Hello everyone, I'm new here, but I've seen some posts by individuals expressing interest in learning or improving their mathematics skills. I used to work at my local community college tutoring College Algebra, Trigonometry, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Calculus based Physics, Differential Equations, and Discrete Math. Its been a while since I've done mathematics professionally but I really miss it and would like to extend my services to this forum free of charge. Here's what I'm thinking:

There are numerous online resources such as Kahn Acadamy and Open Courseware which provide lectures and assignments for tons of subjects. We could organize classes and those who are interested can watch the lectures online and try to do the assignments. I am willing to make myself available for "office hours" for a few hours a week to answer questions and help out with problems etc... I think this would be way more beneficial than actually teaching since there's no reason to re-invent the wheel.

Since I don't really know what levels of math people are interested in, I'm looking for suggestions! Lets make this happen guys and gals, its a good opportunity to improve your life. :D

I would not do it because I don't have time outside of school, but I think it's an excellent idea.
Perhaps computer science could be another option?

Sounds like a really good idea, but I'm actually in calculus courses at this point, and wouldn't be able to add anything to my workload (though if you do graduate statistics, I'm made of questions not otherwise covered in my course load.)

From reading the forums, it looks like there's a lot of smart people around here whose disability has interfered with their ability to go to a traditional school. They would probably really appreciate this kind of thing, and kudos to you for offering.

Took calculus in '80 tried to get into college this year but to to the fact that modern colleges have awful systems of signing up and you are not allowed to talk to anyone until everything works perfect online it did not work.

I've actually taken all of the courses above, but perhaps my favorite out of the ones listed above is calculus. :)

Final roll call! If you posted in the poll and haven't PM'd me (which is most of you :D ) please do so to make it easier for us to figure out a time that works best.

I've come to enjoy various fields of mathematics as an adult. It really feels like playing a strategy game, and I've taken all the fields mentioned by this poll. :) I hope people can benefit from your services; good math teachers are few and far between.
