I'm majoring in computer science and thinking about getting a monitor that can pivot so it is taller than it is wide, so that I can see more of my code at any one time. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Dell 2405fpw 24" monitor and it can rotate 90' to convert from landscape to portrait, It's not a new monitor (been out since 2005) bot for the 9 years old it is. it still a very good monitor and i still use it to this day. I tried coding and writing in the portrait position and I don't see any real benefit to it.

At home we have three of the same hp monitor that can pivot. And it almost never gets pivoted.

You need to make sure you leave enough slack in the cables to pivot (power, video, USB).

Maybe hp 2207w??

I am sure hp doesn't make that particular monitor, but maybe they still make something similar to it. It has what I call 'an Apple' appearance, all shiny and smudges up easily.

No problems with any of the three. I clean the monitor with one of those microfiber rags and steamed water (no I am not anal retentive , the steamed water is also for the iron and a battery backup sump pump). Somehow my family thinks they are touch screens (sarcasm there).

Ooops some corrections.

Its w2207h (the h was for HDMI), its no longer made, and the HP website doesn't have any pivot monitor.

So I went to newegg.com, went to monitors, then did a search on the key word 'pivot' and a whole bunch show up. Some of them look ungainly compared the 2207h's we have.

The w2207h can tilt, raise and lower, and pivot, clever design, must have been an Aspie that did it. :)
