I finally bought one, but not so sure about the various games....I usually like sort of action/adventure sort of games. I don't like the ones with the combat style like final fantasy I prefer where you actually control the character with controllers to battle not the whole selecting attacks and defenses out of a menu like final fantasy. But I like quite a few themes like fantasy with orcs, elves and crap like that, I've had fun with military themed games and I also liked playing devil may cry on PS2 and I did enjoy the sims on my computer. I also really liked this one called Two worlds II up until the ending...basically you learn a bunch of skills and cant even use them on the last battle which was frusterating.

So any suggestions?.....I found one cool one pertaining to viking mythology but not sure of the name right now that I was thinking of getting. But yeah suppose I'd just see what kind of suggestions I get here since the ebay list sort of sucks and is like the same few games over and over again.

Dragon Age springs to mind for fantasy, possibly Mass Effect for something more si-fy, Perhaps Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion, Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, while Fallout 3 is more post apocalyptic.

Possibly Viking: Battle for Asgard, may be the viking game that comes to mind... That more action/adventure hack and slash though...

There's not much in terms of traditional fantasy rpg's

There's quite the backlog though...

Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Skyrim and Oblivion, Kingdoms of Amalur, maybe Saints Row the Third if you're feeling a little bit goofy.

Ni No Kuni is more of an RPG-ish game like Final Fantasy, but that was a fun game to play if you're willing to give it a chance.

The only action games I played that weren't turn based are Tales of Graces, Tales of Xillia, Ni No Kuni, and Yakuza 4.

The very fact that you have to ask for a machine that is 5 years old says everything about the recent crop of PS consoles... eh, and perhaps console gaming generally over the last 10 years.

Well... the PS3 is nearing 8 years old and the generation has a good range of rich hardware and software titles. Each generation is not quite comparable, each had their high and lows, achievements and failures. The current gen is still very early days.

Still... can't believe I've been gaming nearly 20 years... :|

I've always been a person that like the story mode on games, it seems like so many games nowadays are almost completely focused on online play. GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, Heavy Rain, LA Noire.

I wanted to play The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls but my ps3 broke back in like November, shortly after I beat GTA V thank god.

Burnout Paradise (I love that game). I just love setting a ridiculously high showtime score and hearing the bus multiplier +1 sound (ba-doing!) I think my highest showtime score was $8,976,000 and change with some ridiculous multiplier like x13 something.

Not entirely sure what you mean....its the first console I've had, aside from that I have played PS3 games on other peoples systems, bought a couple games myself but yeah not exactly something i've been following the past few years.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll have to look into them....as for now since I don't have any games yet I think I'll just download and try out demos till I get actual games...if I really like any of those perhaps I'll get the full versions.
