Hi, I have this relatively new laptop and I remember not long after getting it I got a pop up message that said it could automatically switch to battery mode when I had the computer plugged in too long (to keep the battery healthy). I said ok, but now it keeps going on battery mode all the time and is driving me crazy. I tried Googling to find the setting to no avail. Does anybody know how to stop this? Thanks!

Might this be a Samsung like the one I'm posting on? If so, I might know some context, but PC makers are radically inconsistent in the resources they supply on top of Windows. If you can tell me the model, I can probably resolve this.

Are you leaving it plugged in?

That's what it's supposed to do.

Try unplugging and letting it run down until the warning kicks in to plug it back in. If it keeps going to battery power before it reaches 100% from a low state of charge, something's not right.

Cycling lithium (or most other rechargable) batteries all the way between empty & 100% degrades the catalytic reaction that maintains their service life. A good rule of thumb to retain 4-5 hours of charge for when you really need it is to charge to 80-85% and only let it drop to 20 or 15.

Thanks for the answers, guys! It stopped doing it on its own. Now it's doing the "plugged in but not charging," which is what is supposed to do because this way it doesn't dim the monitor making it hard for me to see. Before it was not recognizing that it was plugged in. Thanks!
