I think it's unfair the way eBay banned me for getting a few low feedback ratings. I think it was mainly due to a customer leaving negative feedback when I had ran out of the product I was selling. I had know warning or anything. I rang eBay customer support and they said they couldn't lift the selling ban. I'm a student and I get more income from eBay than from my part time job.

Is there anything I can do to sell again?

Yikes, I didn't know that could happen just for a few low ratings. Some buyers give less than five stars for things that are out of the seller's control, like slow mail service.

Were you able to communicate with the buyer and help them see that something was out of your control?

Is there any way e-bay can make it a temporary ban, if you explain what happened and that you tried to make reparation to the buyer? A permanent ban seems harsh, unless a seller does something really bad or criminal.

I hope you refunded the seller for the item you ran out. That should make people happy but it doesn't for some reason.

If you sell on ebay, you are essentially saying you are stocking that product.

So it is kind of your fault.

If you decided to double up you listings as a strategy to get more bites, that is risk you took, and there are some other option that aren't that risky.

If you are selling on multiple fronts including ebay, you need a stock keeping system and practices that can handle that.

If you are in a high volume sales, you need contingency.

I guess it is a learning experience but still not surprised they shut your account down.

It is vital to turn around orders straight away if you want to have and keep a good reputation. If someone buys from you and you have to wait for the goods to arrive yourself, then you've got big problems. It doesn't matter so much if the end buyer knows right from the outset, before they place an order, that delivery will take 2 weeks (for example); but if someone has been told 2 - 3 days and it takes longer they are going to complain and rightly so.
