It sounds much more beautiful than triangle.

For instance consider saying "The Golden Trigon!". One sounds much more badass when saying that instead of "The Golden Triangle!".

Let trigons be trigons!

Or not.

They call four sided things "rectangles", and not "quadragons", or "rectagons".

Even though they use the "gon" (meaning side, rather than 'angle') for pentagons, and hexagons, heptogons, and for everything with numbers of sides on up from that.

So they like to keep triangles consistant with rectangles even though it makes both inconsistent with the rest of polygon kind.

In Neurology, we used to use the term tetraplegia and now we use quadriplegia, and diplegia was abandon for paraplegia. The old nomenclature of mono, di, tri, and tetraplegia made a lot of sense but it is now archaic.

I like Trigon better for its consistency with the polygons.
