I left work last night to a sky of doom and gloom; dark gray clouds over head, a light snow falling, and in the distance blue sky. It took me a few seconds to figure it out, it was lake-effect snow over the shore line of Lake Michigan, and I was to be heading west towards the blue sky, where it was all rainbows and unicorns. It finally occurred to me to take a picture at the border, this is the best I could do. Of course I got most every green light the moment I wanted to take my smart phone out of my pocket.

Some of the lights in the sky are actually reflections of lights inside my vehicle, sorry, I didn’t get any UFO’s. Taken at about Howard street and Metra tracks.

The orange color in the clouds is the reflection of the sodium vapor street lights that the city of Chicago still uses. You can readily see this orange glow when you arrive at night on a flight into O'Hare airport.
