NY District Attorney Mr. Vance Jr. has echoed to Congress what other law enforcement and spy agencies have stated about iOS8:

Quote:
This defendant’s appreciation of the safety that the iOS 8 operating system afforded him is surely shared by criminal defendants in every jurisdiction in America charged with all manner of crimes, including rape, kidnapping, robbery, promotion of child pornography, larceny, and presumably by those interested in committing acts of terrorism. Criminal defendants across the nation are the principal beneficiaries of iOS 8, and the safety of all American communities is imperiled by it.http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015 ... ncryption/

Have no fear Google and Microsoft actually work with governments to ensure they receive the necessary data required to access their OSes and files.

Other countries have echoed the same concerns over iOS8 and OS X: 10.10 (Yosemite), such as UK and Non EU countries such as China, Russia, Israel, Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil etc...

The UK especially is mulling banning Apple software including iMessage, iCloud, FaceTime and others because of encryption and use by terrorists and criminals to evade UK intelligence and police.
The vote is expected by the end of the year in Parliament.
There is even talks of banning Apple's OSes from the UK as a whole, if Apple refuses to hand over their encryption software and keys to the UK government.

You can't fight this. After all, government access to private communication is a guaranteed by the constitution and affirmed in the bill of rights: "the citizens shall make no device that hinders the free perusal and inspection of their mail, messages, papers, documents and communications of any kind by appointees, agents, or associates of any part of local, state, or federal government, or private agencies performing a similar function."

How can we be sure that free speech is truly free unless we inspect and analyze all of it?
