I am not a mathematician, so I don't have a good overview over all fields of mathematics.
But I find complex analysis and the differential forms approach to multivariable calculus particulary beautiful.

I like discrete mathematics (diophantine equations, recurrence relations, etc.). :)

Boolean Logic, and yes, I do still use it.

Example, simplify the expression X . Y + X (Y + Z) + Y (Y + Z)

Applying distributive property, we get
X . Y + X (Y + Z) + Y (Y + Z) = X . Y + X . Y + X . Z + Y . Y + Y . Z

We know B . B = B
= X . Y + X . Y + X . Z + Y + Y . Z

We know A . B + A . B = A . B
= X . Y + X . Z + Y + Y . Z
= X . Y + X . Z + Y [We know (B + BC = B)]
= Y + XZ

I'm a A-Level (last year before uni) student and I really loved studying the Differential Equations module. I thought the methods for solving DE's were ingenious and they could be used for so many different situations.

DE's used to be my favorite (I used to sleep with my old 500 pg. DE text in the bed with me), but, having been a physics student, my horizons were limited to applied math. I'm far more interested in mathematical logic now.

What do you mean? Theoretical work is the exact opposite of applied math.

I use applied mathematics when I see the theories being applied to. so it brings onto things that are not applied but I write them down in my own way. I probably should of said that differently.


I just recreate them in my own head to it does place onto into some creativity and its just a small hobby of mine.

I found discrete mathematics and game theory the most interesting.

Discrete mathematics was like taking a step back into algebra, and arithmetic after so much calculus and DE. Of discrete math, I particularly liked number theory, and set theory as well as the effort to focus on proving ideas.

Game theory was interesting in computing optimal strategies for hypothetical "games".

It seems like my ASD makes me have an affinity,or an appreciation of the order to math.
