Can someone please tell me how to get a photo from my iPod to a non-Mac computer? I don't want to email it to myself just to take a screenshot and edit it on Microsoft Paint.

1. hook your ipod to the PC using the USB port
2. then the ipod device should appear in the Windows Explorer as a device icon
3. select the device icon in the Windows explorer, and navigate to the photo files

^That way of getting iPod photos to my Windows laptop doesn't work. Are there other ways of sending myself photos besides emailing them, which is time-consuming and eats away at my iPod's battery life?

Can you explain why the way suggested doesn't work ??

I always believed that we had to use iTunes to access photos and music but when we got a new IPad o connected the old iPad 1 to our laptop by the usb charging lead and everything was accessible as the other person described .

We took thousands of photos off the old iPad .
