If a computer logical gate was to assume a binary switch (1 or 0) and quantum computing is trying to assume 1/0 as the same time, wouldn't that only assume 3 possible states? Would quantum computing try to assume more states and escape the binary system (or keep it as a subsystem) if it were to execute different functions or "symbols"

Symbols being anything that may/may not be binary that the computer processes?

I am a beginner at quantum computing but I am genuinely curious as to why a transistor would assume of of 2-3 states and not an array of states. (Multiple transistors at work for multiple switch signals?)
