I was thinking of getting one of those tiny vacuum cleaners to use on my keyboard. Has anyone ever bought one, how did it perform, and from where did you buy it?

I dislike using canned air, this is why I'm asking.

Lab Pet does not have one but understand they work quite well. Like you, compressed air isn't such a good idea since this just drives the dust & particulates into the keyboard. Isopropyl alcohol is what I use to clean keyboard exterior BUT Isopropyl + compressed air = frozen keyboard. Literally, frozen. I had ice glaze since compressed air (PV=nRT) super-cooled the alcohol >>> frost!

Once I tried my household vacuum cleaner on my keyboard......umm, don't. I accidentally sucked-up a key! Did recover it, re-attached but learned a household vacuum is just not intended for computer keyboard - too much power! <Thinking.....don't try the Dyson!>

At my lab I have used the bench vacuum w/ hose for analytical balances - that would work too. Hope that works; OfficeMax sells mini-vacuums.

I just take it apart and clean it.

I bought one and it sucked :D OK, sorry about that but it really was bad. I've had better results turning the keyboard over and banging the back hard a couple of times, it's amazing how much crud and cat fluff falls out.

One of my mother's friends suggests a kind of putty which can get into nooks and crannies and pick up dust. I haven't tried it personally yet, but it seems like the kind of substance which gets the job done.

I don't have a cat. But when I inverted my keyboard and did some moderate banging on it, dead skin, dandruff and crumbs fell out.

I have a canister vacuum & I detach the rod & put the brush attachment on for my keyboard & that works well.

Pry the keys away individually from the keyboard with a screwdriver and clean it with a vacuum.
