Not me, but I work in a lab testing blends of polymers and other materials. I have a shallow understanding of material science. It is fascinating but I have not done the deep-dive. A lot of progress is being made and will be made in the field. I expect eventually we will see more genetic engineering to make plants and animal produce materials, like they do with goats to make spider-silk.
I'm curious about the epoxy or polyester resin that will be used to bind the carbon-fiber in the planned Mars rockets spherical fuel tanks. It has to withstand cryo-temperatures and the vibrations at lift-off at the same time. ... so Brazil yeah? Do they teach kids Lua programming in secondary school there?
