I was browsing through other peoples iTunes selection tonight and I noticed that one user, in addition to thousands of other songs they had, they also had exactly the same music I had to down to the spelling nuances and compression artifacts on the lower bitrate mp3's.

Is this a hack job or what, or am I missing something here?

There's freeware that will let you grab music from other iTunes users on your network. It doesn't work with iTunes 7 (although the devs are working on fixing that), so they either grabbed it awhile ago or never upgraded their iTunes.
