Does anyone else get hungry after long math exercises?

No, I usually get cranky. j/k.

Two (of probably many) possibilities:

1) thinking does burn glucose and...is it ketones?
and,
2) maybe you get lost in math, reach the point of hunger, don't realize it and then come back out of your head and then you feel the hunger? I've had that happen plenty of times when I'm buried deep in some intellectual challenge.

Sure. The brain consumes over half the oxygen taken in. Brain work is hard work and metabolizes a lot of glucose.

After a heavy math session some sweets would go a long way to combat the fatigue.

Yes. My appetite is pretty fine-tuned, I only get hungry when I really need to eat.

I get hungry when I've worked out, but I find I get just as hungry if I'm working really hard on an essay. Thinking is hard work :D .

I tend to lose my appetite from getting headaches but that's because math is difficult for me due to my dyscalculia, dysgraphia & dyslexia.

Doing maths for a long period of time does make me hunrgy. This Monday i did a maths MOC exam, and my stomach wouldn't shut up. I felt a little sorry for my classmates.
