First I have to explain that I am a cybertwit. This is probably a moronic question, for which I apologize.

I have a laptop. You know the most important wire, the one that gives power? The light is mostly red instead of white. The laptop says it's nearly out of power and I should plug it in. Believe me, I did. And I checked that everything that looks plugged is actually plugged and it is.

It's this laptop, which might die at any second.

How do I get it some power?

Please, thank you.

Your AC "wall wart" adapter providing power for the laptop and its charging circuit could have gone bad, or maybe your cord or its plug or the jack and/or wiring in your laptop. I have had to replace the input jack on one of my Dell machines as well as an Acer, but there is no way to know exactly what is wrong without doing some testing of the adapter and its connection point.

Thank you for answering!

'Input jack' = Yes, that's the phrase I was looking for. I'll rush off to e-Bay now.

Many thanks!
