I saw this video about how to double your cpu speed that looked legit.
So I went through all the steps. Then like an idiot afterwords I decided to look at the user comments and saw that it was a joke. So I went through the whole process to undo what I changed. The one thing I am not sure about is at 6:42 he says to click the highest number. For mine the highest number was 4. So should I have reset that to a 1 or a 0?

I know that from now on I need to be very careful about any how to video for anything and check the description, likes/dislikes and comments. Usually how to videos aren't carefully staged jokes like this as*hole made.

Edit: There was yet another video for the same thing and this one wasn't supposed to be a joke. Anyways someone wrote in the comments section "this guy is a complete idiot. This will totally screw your pc. If you try it and find out, then to fix it just go to the same advanced boot option and tick the box labelled debug and apply and ok restart. Should get you back to where you started from." So I clicked the debug box and restarted.

Don't set anything here, just delete this data collector set. Are you sure you've reverted everything properly?

I don't have Windows 10 to check it, but debugging usually doesn't revert anything. You should check if you have this user defined data collector set, if yes delete it.

It shouldn't break your computer, hyperthreading doesn't mean that you have additional cores, only your operating system sees it that way. But it can be dangerous because someone can use it to break into your computer.

I'm not sure about the setting in the image. Whether it's supposed to be a 1 or a 0.

Also when I went to bios it said my cpu speed was 2500 mhz (2.5 ghz), but the spec says it's supposed to be 2.7 ghz.

The laptop seems to be running alright. Reboots and everything fine. I'm mainly concerned that I don't have the right clock speed.

What do you mean by someone breaking into my computer?

Neither. Watch the video once again, before choosing this option you create user defined data set, so you should just delete it, then you won't have this setting at all. This is the default you try to revert to.

CPU speed for performance/power saving reasons changes quite often (if you have proper option enabled), so it may be normal. Check it once again after a while

Is it auto setting? If it's manual setting you should be able to change it, but how depends on your BIOS.

It means that hyperthreading technology is not completely safe, if you enable it and you run a bad code it can serve as a mean to break into your computer. It mostly depends on your computer specs (type of your processor), some info on hyperthreading is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthreading

Provided these changes didn't alter any of your files, I'd get an external drive, off load all my files, wipe the hard drive, reinstall Windows, and restore my files and programs...

And don't do it again. :D

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".
