I've been using Linux Mint 19.1 for 8 months now! I LOVE it! but there are some issues I'm having. I don't know how to manage my hard drive space - every time I use it, more disk space gets used up! I know how to delete old kernels now, but not so much about BleachBit. Lets have a conversation so I can enjoy my user experience - finally getting away from Windows and the dictatorship of Microsoft!

Mint is debian-based, isn't it?
Try

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge

in terminal.

Google for:

Linux mint 19.1 timeshift eating space

By default, it makes too many backups. I have fixed it by using the start menu to get to timeshift settings, removing old backups and telling schedule system to keep only one backup.
