Hey everyone,

Since I was born through an affair and hate my official name, used in my gmail account, but want to share some songs I made up with the world, I'm thinking of making a Youtube account without gmail. I might either be anonymous, or just take my first name, am still deciding...

So far, I have: gmail, with my official name, a yahoo account, an unrecovered mail.ru account and an unrecovered hotmail account, with my real name (which reflects my real ancestry, but idk, if I want to use them, as people may still figure out it's me).

Does anyone know of any other emails I could use to make a Youtube account, where I could be anonymous?

Also, is Youtube copyright protected? Like, if I post something there, could someone copy it, and claim it as their own?

Looking forward, to any advice 8)

I know it's possible to create a second gmail account competely unconnected to the first. Not sure what other email service providers are still out there- all the ones I could think of offhand have been absorbed by gmail!

Copyright definitely applies on Youtube. People do nick and re-upload stuff, but there are built-in ways to enforce a "copyright strike" against them. That's about all I know- considering getting into Youtube myself, but haven't made the leap yet.

Thanks, for the advice, now, I will need to choose a good username...

Do you know the ways to enforce built-in "copyright strikes"?

The copyright strike process seems to start here:

It's a bit short on explanations.

This page has more Youtube copyright-related links.

If I've understood it right, a "content ID claim" is how you'd go about asserting your rights on someone's cover version of one of your songs. (While that's unlikely to net you much actual money, it's a good thing to do on principle!)
