The oxford vaccine candidate is now in the trials for efficacy, and appeals are out for volunteers. The vaccine uses an adnovirus as the critical part, with covid spike antigens added and the genetic material stripped out (so it cannot get copied and used to make more virus particles). It also has a basically harmless additive which will cause a controlled mild inflammation; inflammation is the body's process which alerts the adaptive immune system to send in the dendritic cells to collect anntigens to pass on to the T and B cells so that antibodies can be made and detsis stored in the B cells ready for any future infection.
