Learning Linux and unbricking my Android tablet....
Rooting an Android device is a LOT harder than it used to be. When I successfully rooted a Samsung tablet I got this year, the OS literally unrooted itself. In a vain attempt to regain control of it, I somehow deleted the original OS altogether. I'm taking a break from it to try to learn more about how to unbrick it and gain root access to turn off all the tracking crap and the microphone, camera, etc. It's not that I have anything to hide, it's just the principle, and my hope is to not overclock the device, but to have it run functionally without all of the unnecessary/unwanted bloatware. Anyone have any experience with this, or any good ideas for resources for learning more intermediate to advanced methods of making the Google device do what I want it to do [and nothing else]...?

Rooting my Samsung phone was basically just plug and play, using the Odin software. There is also an alternative on Linux but i didn't get it to work. I did this maybe 3 or 4 years ago and now decided to do it again, but swiftly removed it after a lot of apps started failing to log in, etc, even with a roothider. My phone is almost 5 years old and i couldn't be bothered anymore and like i said i just removed it because i didn't see much gain. Uninstalled some software that was preinstalled though.
